social protection of the rights of the child

Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Social Affairs Mrs Pauline Irene NGUENE,

 the workshop for the review and consolidation of the draft periodic report on the implementation of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child 2015-2020, on April 13, 2020 at CICM in Mvolye. The objective of this workshop was to have a document that reports on the implementation of the the said charter.

There was the presentation of the technical sheet of the workshop by the Head of service for the Social Protection of the Child Mrs Ngo Kendeck Jacqueline followed by the speech of the Minister. In her speech she retraced the historical facts of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, gave updates on Cameroon's periodic reporting and encouraged the participants to be very active in enriching the current draft document so that at the end of the workshop there will be a very rich document that reflects what has been done so far and that respect international standards.

After the break, there were two presentations that followed. The first was on the observation and issues on the periodic report by Mr Jean Pierre Edjoa the Director for the Social protection of the Child and the second presentation on the architecture and articulation of the draft  periodic report on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child was done by Mrs Ngo Kendeck Jacqueline.  There were some discussions, group works and plenary restitution. At the end of the workshop it was decided that instead of having two periodic review reports, there should be one consolidated report  for Cameroon 2015-2020 while distinguishing the two reporting periods.
