Launch of the 4th edition of the Cameroon Children's Month (MCE)
During the first session of the National Commission for the Protection of Children in Moral Danger, Delinquents or Abandoned for 2024, held on 12th June, the Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs
Pauline Irène NGUENE, with Professor Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoua, officially launched the activities of this edition.
A month free of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect, and above all a month to reflect on the conditions of children, an invitation from the Minister of Social Affairs to reserve a special place for children during the dedicated period.
A number of other activities are planned throughout the month, including:
- International Day of the Innocent Child Victims of Aggression (4th June)
- World Day Against Child Labour (12 June)
- International Albinism Awareness Day
- World Refugee Day
- Day of the African Child (16 June)
- Children's Parliament (26 June)
The aim is to mobilise the national and international community around violations of children's rights and protection mechanisms.
The National Commission for the Protection of Children in Moral Danger, Delinquent or Abandoned, which launched the Cameroon Children's Month, is a consultative body set up by Decree No. 90/524 of 23 March 1990. It is responsible for issuing opinions and proposals on all matters relating to national policy on the protection of children and the prevention and treatment of social maladjustment of young people. The theme of this year's event was "Security crises and the promotion of the right to education for all: roles and actions of actors in the child protection chain in Cameroon".
The next stage, the 34th Day of the African Child (DAC) under the theme: “Education for all children in Africa: the time is now.”
