Launch of CPIMS+: A big step forward for child protection in Cameroon

On 14 November 2024, Cameroon took a decisive step forward in its commitment to child protection with the official launch of the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+).  The ceremony, presided over by the Minister of Social Affairs, Pauline Irène NGUENE, is a crucial step in

the management of child protection cases.

CPIMS+ is a specific database designed to meet the needs of child protection programmes.  It provides essential functionality for secure case management, monitoring of children at risk and family reunification.  It will also facilitate better monitoring of incidents and more consistent management of information at the national level.

Since 2023, the Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS), in collaboration with UNICEF and other child protection actors, has been working actively to design this system to ensure more effective care for children in vulnerable situations.  The launch ceremony was also an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between MINAS and UNICEF, with the signing of a MOU to ensure the success and sustainability of this initiative.

In her speech, Pauline Irène NGUENE stressed the strategic importance of this project for Cameroon, recalling that the Head of State is strongly committed to protecting children and improving their well-being.  She also expressed her wish to continue the collaboration between MINAS and UNICEF for the benefit of children.

This launch is a significant step forward for Cameroon as it adopts digital tools to better protect its children and secure their future.  CPIMS+ is part of a vision to modernise child protection services and promote children's rights through innovative and sustainable solutions.
