Lamine Najma presents her gold medal to the Minister of Social Affairs.
The official presentation ceremony of the gold medal won during the Special Olympic World Games last June in Germany by a girl with autism named Lamine Najma Louisette NDOGNDJE
took place today at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The mother of Lamine Najma thanked the Presidential couple Mr and Mrs Biya for investing in caring for children with autism. The President of the Cameroonian Federation for Intellectual Deficiency expressed his joy and happiness for this state recognition of an athlete with disability. He listed other athletes who won medals in some international competitions some years back and implored the Ministry of social Affairs to continue recognizing and valourizing these talents of persons with disabilities.
The Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs Pauline Irene NGUENE congratulated athlete Lamine Najma and her parents for making Cameroon proud. She equally used this opportunity to sensitize families to stop hiding children with disabilities. They should stop condemning them into isolation and that they should be given equal chances to eduation. There are MINAS structures that offer education and empowerment to children with disabilities and children with disabilities can excel when given equal chances with other children.
