Joining forces in HIV/AIDS prevention: MINAS launches activities for the 9th Cameroon AIDS Awareness Month

On 29 and 30 October 2024, the Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS) officially launched the activities of the 9th edition of Cameroon AIDS Month.  This event marked

the start of the implementation of the Integrated and Multisectoral Approach to Combined HIV/AIDS Prevention (AIMPC-PSV), a key programme to strengthen the provision of HIV prevention services throughout the country.

The event was attended by representatives of several administrations, including GTC-CNLS, MINSANTE, MINPROFF and MINJEC, as well as development organisations and projects.  They discussed the objectives of the project and the strategies to be adopted to increase the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS prevention, especially among adolescents, young people and socially vulnerable persons.

Under the national theme "Take the rights path", MINAS discussions focused on the need for collective action to ensure that vulnerable persons have access to HIV services.  This approach aims to create a synergy of action and maximise the interventions of the different actors in order to strengthen prevention efforts throughout the country.

The Vice-President of GTP-SIDA/MINAS stressed the importance of involving all actors in order to increase the effectiveness of interventions. Activities will continue until 30 December 2024 throughout the country.

This awareness month is a decisive step in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Cameroon, a collective commitment to a healthier and more inclusive future.
