The official launch of the 34th edition of the International Day of Older Persons (JIPA), and the 2nd edition of the Senior's week took place on September 20, 2024, in Meyomessi, Dja and Lobo Division of the South Region. Presided over by the Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs Pauline Irene NGUENE,

in the presence of the Minister of Women's Empowerment and the Family, the theme for this edition is "The part we play". The objective is to strengthen the promotion of social inclusion of older persons in the face of a transformational world for the inclusive development context.

In her launching speech, Minister Pauline Irene NGUENE said it is time to change perceptions about older persons, put an end to discrimination against them, strengthen health care systems so that older persons can effectively play the role they are suppose to play in the community.

She called on the Older persons to be the light of the families, neighbors and communities and exhorted them to be actors of socio-economic development and the emergence of Cameroon.
