JIPH 2023- Never without persons with disabilities

 The official ceremony of the 32nd International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held on December 3 at the Cardinal Paul Emile Léger National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities,

was attended by a number of personalities, including the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, His Excellency the Italian Ambassador to Cameroon, and others. The theme of the event was “A day for all,” and it called on all actors to address the issue of social inclusion. According to the Minister of Social Affairs, Pauline Irène NGUENE, “a collective awareness is needed to ensure that the disability approach is taken into account in all areas of life.”

At the institutional level, most of the expected actions have been taken. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been ratified and the enabling texts signed to ensure that their rights are respected. The Minister for Social Affairs called on all actors to work together with persons with disabilities to design and implement solutions based on equal rights
