Decentralisation actors learn how to manage the social dimension of projects.

On September 20, 2023, the Ministry of Social Affairs organised a workshop in Yaoundé to train municipal staff and other decentralisation actors in managing the social dimension of projects, on the theme,

" Taking into account the social dimension in the implementation of projects at local level ".

This workshop falls in line with the National Development Strategy 2030 (NDS30), which focuses on four pillars, the implementation of which requires the launch of a large number of investment projects.  It should be noted that the implementation of these projects is likely to generate human and social risks for the daily life of the local population and vulnerable indigenous peoples, when these projects affect the areas where they are located.

The workshop aimed to train municipal staff and other decentralisation actors on the challenges in ensuring that projects are socially compliant and to remind them of their role in ensuring that the social dimension is respected when projects are implemented at local level. /-

At the end of the workshop, the following recommendations were made:

1- Continue to develop, in collaboration with the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC), a plan for cooperation on issues related to the social compliance of projects;

2- Integrate the social compliance dimension of projects into municipal development plans;

3- Create a WhatsApp group to maintain dynamic communication on the social compliance of projects.
