As part of activities in prelude to the celebration of the 36th edition of the International Women’s Day 2021 under the theme “Women leadership: for an equal future in a covid-19 world”,

the women of the Ministry of Social Affairs paid a sharing visit to the Cameroonian Institute of Childhood (ICE) Betamba in the Mbam and Kim Division of the Center Region. The delegation of about 40 women visited ICE Betamba on Friday 5th March 2021 under the leadership of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Mrs. Panje Beryl Itoh, personal representative of the Minister of Social Affairs.

The objective of this activity was to participate in the solidarity movement towards children in difficulty in general and former street children in particular as well as to raise awareness on their rights.  It was also an opportunity to continue sensitizing the residents on the importance of the strict respect of Covid-19 barrier measures.

Upon arrival at Betamba, the delegation was welcomed by the Director of ICE Betamba Mr. Mathieu Meyeme Madé, the residents of the institute as well as the workers. The Secretary General exhorted the residents to continue respecting the covid-19 barrier measures and to use the gifts offered to them in a rational and equitable manner. She reminded the residents of their potentials and encouraged them to work hard because a bright future awaits them.

The residents were given gifts that range from basic necessities like bedsheets, clothes, caps, slippers and shoes to covid-19 prevention kits so as to help them prevent the spread of this pandemic in the institute.

This gesture is in line with the mission of the Ministry of Social Affairs to protect and promote socially vulnerable persons.
