On March 30, 2023, Mrs. Pauline Irène NGUENE, Minister of Social Affairs, presided over the ceremony  to grant support for the socioeconomic reintegration and nutrition of more than 500 young people and street children

with the support of Mr. MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU, Minister of Youth and Civic Education. This ceremony took place at the Yaounde Listening and Transit Centre, Elig-Essono under the initiative of the United Nations Development Programme which falls within the framework of the implementation of the social policy for the social protection of Socially Vulnerable Persons. It aims at reintegrating young people and street children

In his speech, Alassane BA, Resident Representative (ai) of UNDP in Cameroon, announced an investment of 200 millions CFA F in the next six (06) months to support activities to reintegrate young people and street children. Therefore, he invited them to make good use of these kits.

The Minister of Youth and Civic Education expressed his gratitude to the UN system for their support to the youth and street children. He wished the involvement of more civil organisations to support the vulnerable. He also encouraged them to be ambassadors to their peers who are still in the street and encouraged them to get closer to the structures of MINAS, or to the Minjec youth promotion centres

The Minister of Social Affairs welcomed the UNDP initiative and their commitment to solidarity. While calling for a real coalition to fight against this phenomenon, MINAS recalled that in 2021, an operation of observation and monitoring of street children for their removal from the Yaounde City Commercial Centre, resulted in the withdrawal of 162 street children.       It is a long-term action for this ministry. We can mention the establishment of a group of leaders identified and organised as focal points per site in the city of Yaounde. They serve as relays for any intervention per site
